Beaches

Corfu’s southern coast is the most unspoiled. Windswept Halikounas beach is popular with kite-surfers and windsurfers while Gardeno Beach at Vitalades is a quiet holiday-makers heaven. Wild Arkoudila sandy beach,on the southernmost point of the island can be reached by car on a dirt road.(Look out for the 17th-century monastery hidden in the pine forests overlooking the beach). Notos and Kaliviotis beaches are typical of the mild lanscape of the eastern shore of the island.

Wetlands

Behind the gently rolling dunes are the Korission wetlands, a nature reserve for over 120 species of birds. Alikes Lefkimis (Lefkimi Saltpan) is also one of the most important wetlands of the island with great historical value, as they were operating as saltpans from the Angevin Kingdom of Naples era, up to 1988.
